Big changes are coming out of Minnesota’s latest legislative session—HR needs to take notice!
Lawmakers refined the Earned Sick and Safe Time law with clearer definitions around eligible uses and family members. They also finalized key rules for the upcoming Paid Family and Medical Leave program, set to launch benefits in 2026, including premium collection and private plan opt-outs.
Updates were made to workplace drug policy laws to align with recreational marijuana use, and the state reaffirmed its ban on non-compete agreements in most new employment contracts. These updates demand immediate attention from HR to ensure compliance and policy alignment.
